Serife Sulukan is a physics teacher who was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for working in one of the institutions that were closed by the Decree Laws issued in Turkey after July 15, 2016. Sulukan, who is also a mother of 2 children, is an 89% disabled individual.
Sulukan, who has difficulty meeting his own individual needs, has been detained since May 3, 2022.
She continues her life in prison without access to the health services she needs.
Although Omer Faruk Gergerlioglu, a deputy in the Turkish parliament and a human rights activist and medical doctor, has raised the agenda many times in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), there has been no improvement in the situation of Serife Sulukan.
